Have You Ever Thought I Wish I Could Learn More About Cooking Really Good Food!

Have You Ever Thought I Wish I Could Learn More About Cooking Really Good Food!

Where do you start when you want to learn how to do something really outstanding? You make up your mind to do just that. It is about setting goals and with baby steps we can achieve anything. You practice, you research, you practice and you engage you're closest of family and friends to help you accomplish a goal.
For example, let's talk sports for a minute. Tiger Woods is a household name. Now he is one of the best golfers in the world today, I do believe he is the number one golfer. But did he become the amazing golfer he is today over night? Well okay, we all know the answer to that question!
Even though Tiger started golfing at a very early age it was - - - practice, persistence and perseverance that have made him a great golfer. I truly believe that anyone can accomplish anything they set their minds to.
Cooking is the same thing. Practice, persistence, perseverance and a little patience - any one can master the art of cooking and have fun along the way. I have many recipes that I have perfected along my cooking journey and I want to share with you two little secrets about creating great meals. I practice, I research, I experiment, I practice, and did I say I practice!!

For instance, you really like chicken. When was the last time you ate it, where, what did you like about it? Was it fried, sauteed, grilled or baked? What kind of seasonings? Did you have this at a restaurant or was it something someone made for you? Now if a friend prepared it for you, ask for the recipes and give it a try. If you had the dish at a restaurant, write down the ingredients from the menu, this is a great place to find the main ingredients of any dish.

What is another favorite food? How about potatoes. Think about what you could do different with potatoes. Ever try baked mashed potatoes with Gouda or Fontina Cheese? Maybe grilled white potatoes with pepper, chile powder, kosher salt and a little garlic powder sounds tasty. The options are endless. But where to start?
Another Secret to Successful Cooking = do a little research. Go online and research the main ingredients. For example, Google the ingredients for Sauteed Chicken Breast with Mushroom Sauce; click on a few links and if the recipe looks easy and tasty, give it a try. Remember it just takes practice, persistence, perseverance and a little patience.
I love spicy foods. One of my favorite sauces is a mole sauce. I have a great recipe for it but I wanted to figure out if I could make a marinade with some of the ingredients. Did a little research, looked at a few of the recipes, put my recipe next to other recipes, and picked the ingredients that I had, and guess what - it worked!! I grilled some chicken breast with this mole-chile marinade.....Oh My Goodness is this one tasty treat. The chicken was moist, full of spices and overall amazing flavors.
Okay, the moral of the story; with a little practice and patience, making up your mind to learn and set a few realistic goals anyone can learn to cook really good food. It is easy and fun. Don't be afraid to try something new - you just might surprise yourself - I think there is a hidden chef in all of us!
